Monorail line switching equipment

Participation in the Qom Monorail project is among the activities of Mapna Group’s railway department. The Qom Monorail project is considered as the first monorail line in the country, which was implemented with the aim of developing modern urban transportation systems. In this project, Mapna STS undertook the mission of designing, supplying and installing two types of monorail segmented switches.

 

There are different types of segmented switches according to the redirection mission. For the Qom monorail design, two types of bracing switches have been designed for the first time in West Asia in Mapna STS Company:

  • 1: 2 Monorail Switch
  • Monorail transfer switch


Redirection in monorail lines can be done by a moving bridge called a monorail switch. Numerous mechanisms have been introduced for the switch so far, and the segmentation method has been evaluated as one of the newest and most effective methods.The segmented switch has a unique technology in which the force required to move the set of beams is provided by the drive system consisting of a motor and several gearboxes. The switch is fixed in place in either straight or curved position by means of a locking mechanism.
