Overview:

The steam turbine converts the thermal energy of the steam into rotational mechanical energy.

As the turbine rotor rotates, the axis of the generator rotor that is connected to the turbine rotates and the rotational mechanical energy of the rotor is converted into electrical energy.

A combined cycle power plant consists of a number of gas turbines and steam turbines. The generator connected to the gas turbine produces part of the power output of the power plant independently.

At the same time, the waste heat of the gas turbine is used to produce the steam required by the steam turbine, and thus by combining these two cycles, the production capacity and the total efficiency of the power plant increase.

These power plants use wet and dry cooling systems to cool the water derived from the steam turbine.
